Hi scrapping friends! Stacy here with our Saturday Wrap-Up and a very special installment of ‘Build a Kit with Trixie’!!!
On Monday, Sandy showed us how to make some super-fun pinwheels.
On Tuesday, Carrin encouraged us to share our stories using non-photo layouts.
On Wednesday, Kris introduced us to Katie and shared some of her fabulous layouts with us.
On Thursday, Jen gave us a fantastic template challenge. Make sure to download your template and link us up to your layout for a chance to win some fabulous Trixie goodies!
During the month of July, you’ve been helping Trixie create a new kit. Last week the palette was chosen, and this week, I’m thrilled to announce that the winning theme is….tropical cocktail party!!!
Now comes the fun part! We’re asking the fans to suggest the elements and paper patterns they’d like to see in the kit. Go crazy and suggest everything you’d like to see! Maybe it’s something that you think the winning theme calls for, or maybe there are things that you think are a must have for any kit. Trixie will be picking from among all the comments and working on making your requested papers and elements all this week. Suggestions need to be posted by Friday night July 23rd at 8pm EST. Next Saturday, we’ll come back and show you a sneak peek of the in-progress kit. Sounds fun, right? So, as a reminder, here is the palette once again… we can’t wait to see what your suggestions are!

let’s see… obviously a variety of different cocktails! Martini, wine, and shot glasses, etc. A string of flowers (a “lei”). Some cute heels to kick off after having a few drinks ;). maybe some tropical fruit like coconuts, pineapples, mangoes, kiwi, etc. Beachy elements. Some “sandy” paper would be great! How about a tent for the party to be held under??
Amy says
Things I need in a kit for it to be complete: A couple flowers in different colors, a curly string or ribbon, at least one straight ribbon and a scatter of some sort.

I was going to say lei’s also. How about a tiki bar and maybe some tiki statues
kmkarayannis says
Wahoo!!! How about some lemons and limes, whole and slices, some sugar rimmed glasses, little drink umbrellas, a string of lantern style lights, maybe different colors of
those, big palm and elephant ear leaves, scattered beads, ice cubes, stir sticks, LOVE the tiki idea and everything mentioned so far!! Grass skirt, some word art of different cocktail names, some messy stitches, little cocktail napkins, wrinkled papers, a paper with a grassy texture, hibiscus flowers…phew, this is fun!!

a blender, leis, tiki hut, sand, palm trees
kmkarayannis says
yes, a blender!!! Great idea Cheryl!
PS says
Special drink glasses, beach chairs, flags/banners/ palm trees, /tropical flowers of course!
Leilanie says
Definitely leis and lots of flowers! Also cocktails, especially ones with the umbrellas. I also love the different fruits idea and the tiki theme too!
Chris says
Definitely must have a nice rope hammock where one could lay themselves down under the coconut tree and hold onto that tropical cocktail!

Lots of great ideas so far. Definitely some tropical fruits and flowers. I love curly ribbons and a scatter of some sort. Fun, colorful drink glasses, maybe some fun musical elements (or word art)…

After looking at the color pallete, I immediately thought it would be great if the ellies were a mix of doodles and retro..you know, like a modern/doodled take on a 50’s cocktail party (hope that makes sense)…
For a scatter ellie, maybe you could do colored sugar instead of sand…don’t some drinks have those along the rim (you can tell how much of a NON-cocktail gal I am…lol). Drink embellishments – the little drink umbrellas are a must, toothipick with olives, an apple/lemon/orang slice, a drink shaker, ice cubes/clusters, bottle corks, bottle opener, an assortment of glasses and tumblers (could be used as a patterned paper as well).
Hope these help!! Good luck with the kit…

In regard to what I said earlier, here is something that may make my “suggestion” a little more clear…modern/retro/vintage/doodled along these lines:

Some additional ellies suggestions – an orange/lime/lemon peel curl, club soda or fizzy water, and cranberries.
