Today is Who are You Wednesday and it’s when we take a little time to meet some fans of Trixie Scraps. I was cruising around ScrapMatters and stumbled upon Katie. Here’s what I found out!
1. Tell us about yourself…family, job, fun!
My name is Katie. I’ve been married to my husband Mark for 10 1/2 years. We have 5 children: Alex is 9, Lydia is 8, Andrew is 6, Lily is 4, and Eva is 10 months old. Live in a small ghost-town, but originally from Pennsylvania. We are currently looking to try to move back east to be closer to our families. I have a degree in family history from BYU, but am a SAHM.
2. What led you to digi-scrapping?
I always loved the idea of scrapbooking, but I never had the patience, time, space, or money to do it *right*. We were also bad about developing pictures, and when we did, my husband would make a big fuss about cutting up the pictures. I am a member of Babycenter.com and someone on one of the boards there started posting about digiscrapping and I was hooked from there.
3. What colors do you like to scrap with?
I don’t know. I love all of them, in their time. My color choices seem to change with the seasons. I can’t use a color on a lo unless it shows up twice and I won’t mix colors unless I can find a paper that has both colors. I just can’t. It doesn’t work for me.
4. What is your most memorable vacation?
As an adult, my husband and I always used our vacation to go visit our families, so it was never much of a vacation. In January 2009, we took our first big family vacation to Disneyland. That was really nice. We could do what we wanted without having to worry about what everyone else in our family expected us to do.
5. What is your favorite product from Trixie Scraps Designs?
I really like Hot for Teacher. The colors are so bright and vibrant.
6. What elements can you just not live without?
Good stitches. I have a hard time finding good stitches in kits and sometimes have to hunt through my stash to add the perfect set of stitches.
7. Do you have any guilty pleasures?
Not really. Maybe moments here and there. When there is whipped cream in the fridge, I will regularly eat a spoonful. It’s even better frozen. But I don’t do shoes or clothes much. I like to go shopping on the Internet and fill my cart up with boatloads of stuff and then when I’m done, I hit delete. That’s good therapy, but not anything I feel guilty about.
8. What kind of noise is going on in the background when you scrap? (e.g. TV, kids going crazy, iTunes blasting…)
Generally the tv is on. It’s just on all of the time. I hate that. And there is almost always some noise from kids going on. Unless I’m scrapping during the school year and during quiet time. I have a small window of opportunity where the only sounds are the clicks of the mouse and keyboard.
9. What TV show can you just not live without?
We don’t really watch much tv. We enjoy watching The Office and don’t miss the new episodes often. Before Battlestar Galactica ended, we watched that a lot. Now my husband and I are working through Lost. As we’re watching it through Netflix, we’re really glad that we didn’t have to wait a week to watch the next one. That would have been awful.
