Hi Everyone! I’m Theresa, and I’m here to bring you this week’s edition of Tips, Trends and Techniques! Something I’m seeing more and more of as I browse through the galleries of talent is photo-less layouts. You may be thinking, “Wait! How can I scrap that memory or moment without a photo!” or “Oh no! I wish I had my camera with me just now, that would have been perfect to scrap!”
But why does it have to be something that “would have been” perfect to scrap? Why not scrap it? Scrapbooking is about sharing memories, stories and moments for future generations. So what if you didn’t get the perfect shot? Maybe your photo is blurry, out of focus or has bad lighting. Maybe you didn’t even have your camera ready or with you at the time. That’s okay! You DO have options for scrapbooking that great memory!
If you have a photo, even a less-than-perfect one, why not use it? Make the best of what you have, by cropping your photo, using photo filters to adjust color levels and things like clarity, or making a photo black and white. You could even use blend the photo into the background paper and journal on top of your photo, like this layout using Spring Days and Foam-abet Alpha.
If you don’t have a photo to use from the moment, why not substitute a photo or symbol of your subject into your layout, like I have done in this page about my “dream scrap space”, using one of my all time favorite kits: Saffron Blues. I used a chair element from Trixie Scraps’ part of the Get a Move On Collab kit to symbolize the comfy space I would like to have.
