Jamie here with my first contribution to the Trixie Scraps blog. I am here with the Who Are You Wednesday. I chose to interview Candy. She is such a riot, always on the top of her game.
What inspired you to start digi-scrapping?
I was a paper scrapper for about 5 years, including a stint as a Creative Memories Consultant. I loved paper scrapping, but with two little girls in the house I had very little time to get much done. Add to that I don’t have dedicated scrap space, so I was using the kitchen table and it was hard to work there. I mean, who wants to put all their supplies up every few hours so the family can eat?!?
I was pregnant with my son in 2007 and really wanted to do a baby album for him, but the thought of buying more paper supplies and scrapping at the kitchen table gave me a headache.
That August I was trying to use Photoshop to correct and clean up an old photo of my husband’s grandfather and Googled to get some advice. By chance a site popped up that was about digital scrapbooking. I went through the tutorial for making a layout and was hooked. I Googled some more, found some stores and forums and the rest is history.
What do you like to scrap about?
I mainly scrap about my kids and my family. I have done a couple of vacation albums, a few mini-books about various things. One of my all-time favorite projects is Ali Edwards’ December Daily Project. I love both of those albums and love to pull them out at Christmas every year!
Do you have a favorite font to use for journaling?
I have probably used CK_Alis_Hand_Official the most. I also really like Designer Notes and the Fonts for Peas handwriting fonts.
What is your can’t live without element?
Stitches! I use stitching on probably every layout.
Where did you first hear about Trixie Scraps?
Hanging out at ScrapMatters. I started stalking her new releases a few weeks before she opened her team call. When she put her call out I jumped into email as soon as I saw it and applied!
What is your favorite holiday and why?
My favorite holiday, hands down, is Christmas. I love the Advent season at church, I love the decorations, and most of all I just love the magic of the season. Everything feels more cheerful at Christmas.
Besides scrapbooking, tell us about your other talents and past times?
Scrapbooking is definitely my number one passion, but I also do counted cross-stitch and garden. I also love to read – the library is like my second home!
What do you like about where you live?
Texas is great because we have very long summers. I don’t love the heat, but I hate the cold. It’s nice because we do occasionally get snow, but it never lasts long. We get it long enough to be pretty and fun and then it goes away. As a gardener, I really appreciate that we actually have a nine month growing season!
Do you have a favorite movie?
My favorite movie is The Patriot.
What is your favorite Trixie Scraps kit?
There are so many! Probably Oceanside though. I am a sucker for beach kits!
What is your favorite layout?
a boy + his dog is my favorite so far. I think every layout is my favorite right after I make it.
Thanks, Candy, for letting us get to know you a little better.
