Hello everyone! Welcome to Challenge Thursday! Last week, Theresa challenged you to create a layout using the fabulous freebie stacked paper she made from Love of a Lifetime.
Take a look at this wonderful layout submitted by lwentkie:
For this week’s challenge we’re going to do a mystery lift. It’s kind of like doing a scraplift, but you won’t get to see the layout you’re scraplifting until next week. And it’s kind of like a speed scrap, but you have a few days instead of just a couple hours to complete your layout. So follow the directions below, and see what happens!
Don’t forget to use at least 80% Trixie Scraps Products, post your layouts in the Trixie Scraps Challenge Gallery (so we can leave you some love!) and link us to your layouts in this post for a chance to win a special prize from Trixie Scraps Designs!
Here we go!
1. Choose only three papers: 1 patterned and 2 solids.
2. Use one of the solid papers as your background paper.
3. Crop your patterned paper into a rectangle approximately 2 – 3” W x 12” H. Place this paper going down the left side of your layout.
4. Crop your second solid paper into a rectangle approximately ¼” – ½” wider than the first rectangle. Place this second rectangle along the left side of your layout, underneath the first rectangle, so that it is peeking out from underneath the patterned paper.
5. Choose three horizontal (landscape) photos. If you really want to stay true to the mystery lift, recolor the photos to either sepia or B&W. Resize/crop the photos to approximately 3” x 5” (or 3 ½” x 5”).
6. Evenly space the photos going down the left side of the layout, approximately 1 – 1 ½” away from the left edge.
7. Place a simple frame around each of the photos.
8. Choose three embellishments. Put one on each of your photos.
9. Put the date on some type of tag and tuck it underneath the left side of the top photo.
10. Attach the left side of all three of the photos to the layout with some stitching.
11. Put a title on the top right-hand side of the layout.
12. Use the open space going down the right side of the layout for some great journaling. You’ve got plenty of room to tell the story behind your photos. Include plenty of details to remember in the future.
That’s it! I can’t wait to see your layouts! And be sure to check back next week to see the actual layout you were scraplifting.
