It is Tuesday which means another Tip, Trick or Technique. Did you ever wonder how some photos have that soft edge or feather around it well you no longer have to wonder I am going to tell you. The instructions below are for Photoshop.
The Art of Feathering
Open your photo
Click on your selection tool, choose which ever shape you like
Before you select the portion of the photo you want look in the Top bar you should see a setting titled feather
Change this number to 25 the use your selection tool to select the portion of the photo you want.
Choose edit — copy
open new file
choose edit paste you should have a photo that looks something like this one.
Feathering adds a nice look when then change the opacity of your photo to make it blend into your paper a little. You can play with the number you put in the feather box until you get the look you like.
If you had not set the feather to 25 your photo would look something like this one.
