Hello Trixie Scraps fans! Stacey here bringing you another edition of Sunday Spotlight!
I thought it would be a fabulous idea to get to know Trixie’s new Going for the Grand Contest guest CT members Teri, Jamie and Jennifer!
I am so excited to have them on the team and am already inspired by their fantastic pages! I asked them a bunch of questions, so let’s get started!
Can you tell us a bit about yourself?
Teri – I am a 30 year old single mother of the 2 cutest boys ever (I’m biased, but I”m allowed to be:) Dominick is 3 and alternates between charming the heck out of me and making me want to pull my hair out! LOL! He is smart as a whip and that gets him into trouble often. Ghabriel is 10 months and is the smiliest baby ever! He charms everyone he sees just by giving that tooth-filled grin. LOL! Ghabriel has spina bifida, but is doing so amazing that he is hitting all his milestones with his non SB peers!
I also am a high school math teacher working this year with kids who’ve failed Algebra….getting them through the material so they can get the credit and move on! It is a very rewarding job. When I’m not teaching or with my boys, I like to digi scrap, make cards for Operation Write Home (an amazing organization that sends blank cards to our deployed troops to write a note home), read, play video games. crochet, and a few other things that I really don’t have time for lol.
Jamie – I’ve been married to my wonderful husband for 11 1/2 years. We have 2 amazing kids; a daughter who is 9 (10 later this year) and a son who is 6 (almost 7). We have a 10 year old cat, a year and a half old dog and are adding a second puppy in a few weeks! I’m a SAHM and feel very blessed to have this role. It is very challenging, as many of you know, but since I was raised by a single mom there are many times when I feel it is a luxury! We live in the Midwest, about an hour north of Chicago, IL. Where we are supposed to have 4 seasons, but really just have one long winter and a super short summer!
Jennifer – I am mom to 5 year old Connor and not quite 2 year old Liam who are featured in nearly all of layouts. I work part time as an event planner/trade show coordinator/marketing coordinator/jack of all trades (although I am hoping to find something full time soon) and spend the rest of my time with the boys and squeezing in digi-scrapping time during naps and after bedtime. I used to be a paper scrapper but went digital 3 years ago and couldn’t be happier!!! I just love the flexibility of being digital. I tend to use 3 or more pictures on my pages so I’m always resizing and rearranging them.
What are your scrapping tools?
Terri – I have my Dell laptop (I’m a PC), PSCS3 and a Wacom Bamboo Pen and Touch.
Jamie – My scrapping tools these days are Photoshop Elements 9 and my laptop! I just started digi scrapping this past January and I love that I can take my laptop along and scrap anywhere!
Jennifer – I have quite the elaborate setup in my living room (not!) – a wooden tv tray, my laptop, wireless mouse, external hard drive and a travel mug of fresh brewed hot tea. I usually have two dogs pressed up against my side using my leg as a pillow as well. It’s a cozy little spot on the end of the couch.
What colours do you tend to scrap more with?
Teri – Cool colors….lots of blue because of my boys, but also greens, purples.
Jamie – I don’t know if I can list specific colors for scrapping, it entirely depends on the photos I’m working with. I love to photograph everything so it just depends on the dominant colors in the photos or colors that would compliment them nicely. Although, I’ve been known to tweak the colors in the photos a bit to “help” them coordinate with a digi kit!
Jennifer – Having boys, I tend to use about every shade of blue as well as a lot of browns and greens. My brothers have all girls so it’s fun to do a page of them once in awhile so I can play with some pinks now and then!
What is a typical Friday night at your house?
Teri -I f I have the boys, then it’s chaotic like most nights lol. Cartoons, supper, baths, bed (eventually). If not, then I’m probably at home enjoying the quiet lol.
Jamie – A typical Friday night at our house; depends on the season. This past winter season was a divide and conquer scenario; my son was playing iceless hockey and had games; and my daughter was in a musical so she had rehearsals and then the perfomance. Since we are “in-between” mode right now, I’m hoping for some relaxing family game nights or movie nights before we head into baseball season!
Jennifer – Hmm, usually hanging out with my boys, eating a late dinner and *trying* to make the speed scrap chat at Gotta Pixel. It tends to be an evening of watching Backyardigans on the DVR and then trying to get a little scrapping time in before bedtime. We really live on the wild side here!
Have you ever won anything?
Teri – Yeppers! I won this FABULOUS spot on Trixie’s CT! What a great prize!! I’ve also won other random drawings in digi-land and a couple dollars playing lottery tickets lol.
Jamie – Funny you should ask…typically I don’t win things. Since I started digi scrapping, I’ve been winning a lot! I’ve won a couple free kits, coupon codes to stores, even a gift card for some free 12 x 12 prints! The most fantastic thing I’ve won is this 3 month guest spot for Trixie Scraps Designs! I had completely convinced myself there was no way I could win – my husband is a statistician, so I know a thing or two about odds. You can imagine my complete shock and surprise to have won this!
Jennifer – When I was a kid, I won quite a few trophies at the annual 4-H fair for sewing and showing my chickens – not necessarily things you‘d think would go together! LOL! In the fall I won a guest CT spot for another of my favorite designers and am just thrilled to have gotten this guest spot on Tracy’s team!!!
