Hi Everyone! Amy here to bring you another edition of Sunday Spotlight. Today I interviewed Carolyn. She and I joined Trixie’s team at the same time, and we ran the Amazing Digi Scrap Race together this year. She’s such a sweet person, I hope you all enjoy getting to know her as much as I did!
Tell us something fun or unique about yourself? Hmmmm, I was born in South Africa and got to vote in the first free elections (I had just turned 18 so was totally thrilled that I reached voting age for that). I even got teargassed by the police when at university as I was singing and chanting “Free Nelson Mandela” with a bunch of my friends – can’t even remember why exactly, but we were a huge crowd and would not disperse so that got them mad. Trust me, you do NOT want to be teargassed!
How did you get into digital scrapbooking? I joined a Disney website and started to see awesome layouts of people’s trips and wanted to do it too! Once we got back from our trip I started scrapping my pictures and there was no looking back!
Why do you like digital scrapbooking? I was a paper scrapper for years and swore I would never go digital! But once I tried I loved the freedom of being able to crop, uncrop, change colors, etc that you cannot get with paper scrapping. If you picture is blurred or overexposed there is not much you can do once they are printed, but Photoshop can do wonders with them. I also love that I don’t have to have so much physical “stuff” like paper, stickers, tools…just my laptop and me!
How did you find Trixie Scraps? She was selling at a store I love hanging out at and I noticed her right away. I kept buying her kits as I loved everything about them…still do!
Favorite Trixie kit? Oh no, just one? I love so many! I think my favorite (at the moment) is Oceanside I love the realistic beach elements and that alpha is to-die-for!
What do you listen to while you scrap? My kids or silence. When my kids are awake I am usually listening out for them so not much going on. When they are asleep I LOVE the silence.
What is your favorite elements to use? Alphas! I have been known to buy a kit just because I love an alpha.
What other interests/hobbies do you have besides scrapping? I love to read and knit, although I haven’t been doing much knitting since I started digital scrapbooking.
What is one thing you love about where you live? That we can leave the kids bikes or toys outside and not be afraid someone will nab them. In South Africa you cannot leave anything outside ever. It will not be there when you come back for it. Even our laundry was stolen once!
Can you show us a few of your favorite layouts? ha ha…I feel like I cannot make a bad layout with Tracy’s kits. Here are a few of my faves:
This one uses Tracy’s latest kit that I love, Lovely in Lilac. The lilac colors are so pretty and I love all the flowers in it.
This one uses Puddle Jumpers – such a fun kit – the colors are fabulous:
I just love this one because it tells about my family’s love of reading and I LOVE that kindle element! I love my kindle!
