Do you have your Christmas Tree up yet? We always put ours up on Thanksgiving weekend and it’s become a yearly tradition for us. Another yearly tradition is getting all of the kids pictures in front of the tree. It is so much fun to pull out the older December Daily albums and see how my kids have changed from year to year.
For great tree photos, try to shoot during the day with as much natural light as you can get, ideally coming from the side of your subject. Put your subject in front of the tree, but pull them away some. Remember, your subject is the focus, let the tree provide a beautiful background!
On your camera – set your White Balance to reflect your surroundings and shoot in Aperture Priority mode. Set your aperture as low as you can, which will result in a nice bokeh (the blur in the background – here for more information on that) behind your subject. Get down on the level of your subject, focus on the eyes and take plenty of pictures so you’ll be sure to get at least one good one!
In your album, don’t forget to make a note of your kids ages! You may even want to pair these pictures with an interview of each child.
P.S. The frrebie download for Days 1, 2, AND 3 will be in the Day 3 post!
