Hello Trixie Scraps fans!
Stacey here with a quick basic tutorial on how to do shape cut outs on your papers! It has become one of my favorite new trends and it really adds some depth to my pages! I use Paint Shop Pro XI, but this should be pretty easy to adapt to other programs!
Start by layering your backround papers
I used one of the vector shapes that came with my program, make sure it is the top layer
go to Selections>Select all or use Ctrl+A (or the keyboard shortcut equivalent for your program)
next you will want to select the outline of the shape you wish to cut out, go to Selection>Float or use Ctrl+F (or the shortcut for your program)
now that the “marching ants” are on the shape, select the top paper layer in your layers palette
with that paper layer selected hit you delete button and you should see the shape cutout of your paper
now you just need to deselect the shape by going to Selections>Select none or Ctrl+D (again, use the shortcut for your program)
now just delete the shape layers in the layers palette, then you can repeat the steps as many times as you’d like, off shadows and voila!
Trixie Scraps does have some fabulous cut out templates in her store that make it a breeze!
you can also use this method on any other templates, just do the cutout before you clip your papers!
Here is some cut out inspiration by some of the Scrap Stars to help get those creative juices flowing!
by me using Blue Christmas
by Erica using A Grand Day
and one by Kris using Trixie’s Peek a Boo template and Scouting is for Girls
