Let’s admit it, shall we? We all get a bit of scrapper’s block from time to time. It can be anything from figuring out what you want your layout to look like, what title you want to give your layout or maybe it’s even a bit of a block trying to figure out just what to say. I get scrapper’s block way more than I’d like to admit, but let me give us all some hope.
Let’s first address the issue of layout. If you’re anything like me, you have tons of DVD’s, Blu-Rays, Video Games or maybe even old VHS tapes cluttering up your home. Why not take a look at some of those designs and gain some inspiration for a layout from that?
I took the back of the case for the movie Diary Of A Wimpy Kid and made a layout from that.
Struggling with a title? Why not look to music? I’m a huge music freak and listen to music almost constantly. I’m a huge lover of lyrics and I’m always paying attention to certain lyrics that just stick out to me. Such was the case with the following layout. I was listening to Semisonic’s Closing Time one day around the time my oldest was going to start Middle School. The lyric Every New Beginning Comes From Some Other Beginning’s End really struck a chord with me and this is what came from it.
Finally, let’s talk struggling with journaling. I know a lot of people aren’t so much into the journaling side of things, but my scrapbooking is pretty much my way of keeping a journal, so I try to describe what’s going on in almost every page I do. That can get tricky and I don’t always want to say the same thing and I get stuck on where to start at times. This is where your time on Pinterest or Facebook can come in handy.
There’s so many quotes, funny sayings and meme’s going around these days that I’m sure you’ve found some that you’ve just loved. I have and I’ve discovered that these can be the perfect journaling prompts. Such as this quote I happened upon one day.
Which then inspired this layout, which is one I’ve been trying to do for a long time but had a hard time doing so…
I hope I’ve given you a bit of help on ways to overcome scrapper’s block. If any of these ideas help you, we’d love to see your work in the gallery.
