Welcome to the first Saturday with the Stars of March. If you follow us here on the Trixie Scraps blog, I bet you know what the first week of the month usually means….a new Templatetopia by North Meets South Studios. Say hello to another great template pack that is begging to be added to your stash.
March 2013 Templatetopia contains 4 brand new template packs, each containing 4 brand new templates for a grand total of 16 amazing new templates in this pack. Templates are a huge temptation for me, and these monthly packs are such a steal that they always find their way into my stash. The Scrap Stars always have a great time with templates too. Let’s take a look ate some of the pages that they created using this month’s pack.
This fabulous layout by Candy uses TWO brand new release kits. Not only did she use a fantastic template from this months Templatetopia, but she also Friday’s brand new release Lucky Me. I love how bright and cheerful this page is, and her furry friend looks so cute with that scarf around his neck. All those fun stacked papers and little clusters are just perfect too, and I can’t leave out one of my favorite things: all that glitter.
Here is another great layout using a single photo template, this time by Stacey. One of my favorite things about using templates it often the layers of paper strips. It is one of those things that I have a hard time accomplishing on my own when starting a layout from scratch, but with a template as a guide it is a technique I love. This layout makes great use of some of the patterned papers in After Ten Years. I also really love her use of a black & white photo on this page and the way she made the template her own by adding in an extra cluster on the right side of the ribbon.
Jennifer B created this lovely page using another template from the Standing Alone portion of this months template pack. The colors in the kit she chose work so perfectly with that photo that you would never guess that this is an off-theme use of a themed kit. The kit she used for this page is none other than Scouting is for Girls, but just look at how wonderfully the elements and papers from the kit work for a generic layout. Once again, I love how this template uses ribbons and paper strips in different directions behind the central photo. Jennifer picked some great solid papers for those strips on this page to contrast with the plaid background paper. I really love those stars that she threw into the floral clusters too.
Our next layout was created from one of the templates included in the Star Struck portion of this months template pack. Lori did a terrific job with this template and the Roots and Branches kit to capture a lovely family photo of three generations at once. This page once again shows that a template is simply a guide for you to make your own. In this case, Lori didn’t need all of the journaling tags that were included on the original template, so used the one that worked for her, and deleted the rest. I also really love the way she incorporated the word art leaves in one of her clusters.
Our final layout for today features another furry friend, this time from Scrap Star Shauna. First off, the picture of that little guy is absolutely adorable. He really is just too cute for words. The colors on this page also make it really eye catching to me. Shauna used Heart of a Friend for this page and it works beautifully. The big, bold, floral clusters are gorgeous, and I love all the patterned papers. There is lots of variety, but it doesn’t look overwhelming at all. Once again, another stunning layout.
There are LOTS of other templates included in March 2013 Templatetopia, so be sure to head over to the full preview in the store to take a peek. Remember, Templatetopia is only available bundled at a discounted price for the month that it is released in, so be sure to pick this pack up in March while you can.
