Welcome to another weekend, Trixie fans. I hope you have a great weekend planned. Mine should be mostly low-key, but I’m okay with that. Let’s get onto Saturday With The Stars!
Now that March is starting to slowly crawl to a close, we thought we’d do a quick recap of a couple of the kits released this month so that no one has an excuse for missing out on anything.
We’ll work our way from the ‘old’ to the new.
The first kit that was released this month was March’s Templatetopia. We know I’ve made no secret of my love for template packs, so this should be a given for you. March’s Templatetopia has so many different layouts and I love that they are so varied. Take a look.
If that’s not enough to convince you, take a look at what a few of our Stars did with this template pack.
Erica’s title drew me right in. I love the colors she chose to use and the way she embellished around her photo. The arrows add a nice touch that goes along great with the rotation of the layout. Erica used That’s My Boy, which was a perfect kit to use for her layout.
Jessica’s photo is amazing. I love the fact that she stopped to think to take a photo of her boy playing with his toy motorcycles. Even better yet, her son isn’t necessarily the focal point of the photo. I love the concentration in his eyes. I also like that instead of placing a photo in one of the photo squares, she used a word art instead. She also used the kit That’s My Boy.
Carrin’s layout has such beautiful pictures. I love the coloring in them. She used pieces from each of the following kits: 31 Days Has December, Get the Party Started, If the Slipper Fits, Roll With It and Just Like Dad (Retired Kit). I love that the papers she used went right along with the colors in her daughter’s tutu. I also like that Carrin skewed her letters to match the feel of this template.
Next in line comes the kit, Lucky Me. This was a fun time for all of us at Trixie Scraps as the kit was introduced at Ginger Scraps, Trixie’s newest store addition. The kit is full of standard St. Patrick’s Day icons, but it also has the ability to be used in so many other ways.
Our Stars proved that this kit is one extremely versatile kit.
I was first drawn to Jennifer’s layout because of all the purple. Purple is my favorite color and I love how prevalent it is in this layout. I love that Jennifer chose to scrap a girl’s day out. I never think to take pictures on those days. I enjoy the fact that Jennifer used shamrocks in her layout, but there is very little green in it.
I love the rays in Erica’s layout. I also like that she kept her photos in black and white, so that she could bring in color with her elements. I also like that her title is simply XOXO and that the little bit of journaling that she felt she needed to include, was typed on one of the photos. Her photos just add to this beautiful page.
Mary Kate’s layout plays along with all that St. Patrick’s Day is about, only it has nothing really to do with St. Patrick’s Day. I love all the paper she chose for her layout that helps bring the feel of a rainbow to it. I also enjoy the way she framed her photos. I think having tilted frames just adds to the fun of her layout.
If you’re stuck in a rut wondering which kit to play with next, any of these kits are sure to please you. And as always, if you use one of these kits, please share it in the gallery. We really do love seeing your work.
