Homecoming season is coming to an end and it got me thinking. When I was in high school, October and November were big months for dances. So for today’s Masters Monday I thought I’d share just a quick tip and give you an idea for scrapping either your high school dance photos or your children’s high school dance photos.
If you were like me, or your kids are like me, you probably have plenty of 8×10 prints hanging around of those wonderful dances. I know my mom was never sure what to do with the ones I gave her and just stuck them in her scrapbook. I kept them hanging on my closet when I was in high school. Now they just take up space in a pseudo scrapbook I made way back when.
I decided to cut down on space and include everything that was taking up 3 pages into 1 page. I got the idea to include all the details of the dance from a friend in high school and now find that it serves as the perfect journaling. It helps remind you where you went, what you did and perhaps something that happened that you want to remember. For instance, I went to one dance where the guy was puking all night long. While I didn’t scrap that dance yet, it’s definitely something to remember.
This is the info I included in my layouts: date, school the dance was at, who I went with, who’s choice it was, who was in the group, where we ate, what we ate, what we did and something interesting or funny that may have happened. Yes, surprisingly for almost every dance I ever went to I could think of something random that happened.
Here’s a look at 2 of the pages I made using my high school dance photos. (Yes, I blurred out last names to protect identities)
This was a Homecoming dance. I created this page using If The Slipper Fits.
This layout is for Sadie Hawkins. It was created using King Of The Pride as well as a few elements from Spunky Monkey.
Now what are you waiting for? Go dig out your old high school dance photos or grab your kid and sit down and create a layout. Then post your work in the gallery, so I can admire your work.
