This week I want to focus on tradition. Most holidays are just around the corner and in these two last months of the year traditions seem to be very important. Whether it’s coming together as a family, special food or certain holidays with some special activities you always do.
My layout is about a traditional celebrating in my town, called Ganzenmarkt (Geese Market). I was born and grew up in my town and so I grew up with this local holiday. They way I celebrated has changed quit a bit over the years: from going to the fair and show with my family and even joining in it one year! To walking the fair, eating junk food and laughing all day with my friends in my highschool years. To partying in the evening in bars when I got older. To nowadays when I have to work all day, but we always eat ‘snert’ (pea soup) and ‘oliebollen’ (a kind of doughnuts).
Tradition is found everywhere. It’s in the big things, but also in the smaller things in life.
Tradition! Since the start of this school year, I work at the same highschool where I went myself when I was a teenager. Walking the halls makes me melancholic sometimes.
Tradition! Going to my grandparents for Christmas and getting the same kind of candy every year.
Tradition! Watching the Dutch childrens choir show on tv every single year, even though I am 27 and there is no child in my home to share it with.
What tradition will you capture on photo and scrap about?
