Sentiment Sunday December 22, 2013 {ANTICIPATION}

It seems only appropriate that this final Sentiment Sunday post for 2013, falling as it does only 3 days before Christmas, should focus on ANTICIPATION.

an·tic·i·pa·tion [an-tis-uh-pey-shuhn]

1. the act of anticipating or the state of being anticipated.
2. realization in advance; foretaste.
3. expectation or hope.
4. previous notion; slight previous impression.
5. intuition, foreknowledge, or prescience.

For most people at this time of year, the excitement is building over what special favours Christmas will bring. ANTICIPATION is usually a positive sentiment, combining hope, expectancy, eagerness and mild preoccupation into that slightly giddy buzz leading everyone to be a little more cheerful and kind than usual.

For our family, Christmas came a little early and brought with it the anticipation of something so wonderful and exciting that I’m fairly bursting with it. I’ll have to wait another six months for this little gift, due to arrive on June 22, 2014.
