Happy New Year! If you’ve started on your resolutions for the new year – good for you! If not, I’m here to help! For the first challenge of the new year, I’m challenging you to try something new or different on a layout this week (and maybe you’ll even make it a monthly habit!). Here are a few ideas:
Do you normally fill your page with photos or clusters? Try to leave more white space.
If you normally just use one or two photos, fill that page up!!
Not a journaler? Make it a point to write at least three sentences and include it on your page.
If you normally scrap about your kids/pets/others, make a page about you, something you did, your goals, a dream.
Find a technique, trend or element you’ve always wanted to include on a page and try it – maybe a mask, chevrons, blended photo, experiment with your shadows, mix alphas and fonts, cut a shape out of a top layer paper to reveal the paper underneath, mix patterns, play with splatters or glitter, use traditional ‘boy’ colors on a ‘girl’ page, …. the choices are endless.
I tried a few things outside my norm – glitter papers, lots of journaling on a tag/journal card, used the same photos more than once and I used a heavily patterned cardstock as my background paper. It felt good to try something different, and I’m happy with the results. I used Trixie’s Presents Everywhere Collection for my page.
