December 22nd – And the Stockings Were Hung

Just yesterday, one of my older students asked me about how Santa Claus came into my house to deliver my children’s presents. It lead us to a class-wide discussion about chimneys, magic keys and windows. We also talked about what people do with their stockings when they don’t have fireplaces in their house. In my home, we have two gas fireplaces so no chimneys, but we do have mantels. Our stockings are hung from handmade holders (one of my husband’s genius ideas from last year!) in our formal living room. How do you hang your stockings? Do you have stand-by stocking stuffers (like socks and underwear) that are given each year?
