Welcome to another Wisdom Wednesday, here on the Trixie Scraps blog. I hope your week is going well and you’re either glad to be done with the first part of the week or you’re looking forward to the weekend. I also hope that today’s Wisdom Wednesday will bring your spirits up.
A Little Background
This is a case where the universe was paying close attention to my life and the happenings in it. When I signed up to do this post, I didn’t have any ideas in my head – but I wasn’t worried because quotes are my thing and I can find them easily! I didn’t realize just how easily today’s quote was going to come though. I was trying to finish a book up last week and in between sections of this book the quote jumped out at me. It was one of those times where you get the feeling that what you’re reading (sometimes hearing) is meant JUST FOR YOU!
I haven’t been able to let go of the quote since and I have a crafty project planned for it too.
The Quote
So what is the quote? It’s this:
“Children are the anchors of a mother’s life.”
– Sophocles
What Keeps Me Anchored?
If you didn’t know, I am the mother of 6. Yes, 6! They range in ages from 1 – 14. My life is crazy and busy and I love it. Being a mother is the most demanding job I’ve ever had in my life. But, it’s also been the most rewarding.
My life is deeply anchored in the lives of these 6 kids. There isn’t anything that happens to them that I don’t feel along with them. Any pain or fear or regret, I also feel. Just yesterday I was at the orthodontist office with my oldest so that he could get braces put on AGAIN (another story for another day) and I could just see and sense the pain that he was feeling and all I wanted to do was pull him off of that table and run out of that office. I felt bad that there was nothing I could do to ease his pain at that moment.
That is what this quote means to me. My children keep me standing on solid ground. They keep me where I need to be. Being a mom isn’t always easy and there’s many times I entertain the idea of running away (not seriously), but my thoughts always come back to my kids. They need their mom and that’s all there is to it. If you’re a mom you know you can’t even use the restroom without an entourage. Even when I go out with friends or on a date with my husband, I’m always anxious to get back home to my kids.
It’s those faces that make any bad day better and those voices that soothe the frustrations and anger that comes from others. I am happiest when my kids are around and I can always tell who’s missing. Crazy how that happens.
Inspiration
And now that my rambling is done, here’s a look at the layout I did using this quote. I used the kit, Sailor Duck.
What does this quote mean to you? We’d love to see your layout in the gallery using this quote.
