Wisdom Wednesday is upon us again. This is the part in the program where we try to bring you an inspirational quote that can be used in your scrapbooking. And quite honestly, this is one of my favorite posts we have here on the Trixie Scraps blog.
The Story Behind The Story
To better explain the quote I chose for this month, I wanted to give a little background as to why I chose it.
I recently got a hold of some pictures of my grandma from when she was young. Growing up, I definitely didn’t see this grandma as much as my maternal grandma – but we still saw her a few times a year. I have very fond memories of her and one of the things that stands out the most is just how service oriented she was. She was always serving us in different ways, although usually it was through her baked goods. She was quite a baker.
So because we didn’t see her a whole lot, we didn’t get to know her as well as we probably should have. I also never felt comfortable asking her for photos that I could copy. Somehow my mother-in-law got my dad to get a hold of some of her younger pictures a few years ago and I just barely remembered to ask her for them, since I never had them.
This got to me to thinking that I really wanted to use one of these photos of my grandma when she was younger. So I went about finding the perfect quote and I found it.
Beauty In The Soul
What is the quote? It’s this:
“You can take no credit for beauty at sixteen, but if you are beautiful at sixty, it will be your soul’s doing.”
– Marie Carmichael Stopes
I really felt that this quote described my grandma to a ‘t’, so I went with it.
Showing That Beauty In A Layout
And here’s a look at my layout:
I used the now retired kit, Roots and Branches for my layout.
