What About Him?

Because we talked about special women in our lives last month, I thought it only appropriate to talk about the special men in our lives this month – especially with Father’s Day right around the corner.

My thoughts this time of year always go to my Father in Law. He passed away from cancer a couple years ago and his birthday was just a few days ago (the day after my baby girls’) and so it’s hard not to think of him around this time. He was a great man and the epitome of grandpa. My kid were super blessed to have him in their lives.

My Father in Law was a giving soul and always wanted to help others in whatever way he could. He retired at about the same time as his diagnosis and when he knew he wasn’t going to live he spent his retirement helping his kids. For us, he paid off two car loans. He was always doing things like this and making sure my husband remembered me on special days.

He was a man who always put his wife first and made sure he was meeting not only her needs, but also her wants. Our family sure feels different without him around and I am thankful for the lessons my husband took from his father that I greatly benefit from.
