Welcome to another Wisdom Wednesday, here on the Trixie Scraps blog. It is the first Wednesday of Spring, but it certainly has been a rough road in my neck of the woods. We started the season on Sunday with super cold temperatures and some light snow. I’m more than ready for it to be constantly warmer, but I have been trying hard not to let the weather woes get me down. So this begs the question – what makes you smile?
A Quote from Marilyn Monroe
The quote I’ve chosen this month is one that reminds me to never let life’s little bumps and hurdles get me down. So what is the quote? It’s this:
“Keep smiling because life is a beautiful thing and there’s so much to smile about.”
– Marilyn Monroe
What Makes You Smile?
Some days, it’s easy to smile. The kids are getting along (that’s a rarity with my three, so it’s something I definitely relish), your boss praises you for something positive you’ve done. Your coworkers (or in my case, your students) are excited about upcoming projects.
Not every day starts this way, however. Sometimes you wake up to chaos – the kids are fighting, you can’t get ahead at work, things start falling apart. The struggle is just a part of life and I’m almost positive we’ve all wanted to just hit the pause button to give us some time to catch our breath.
But there are other options. There is a positive to every situation and it’s up to you to decided whether you’d like to give up or soldier through. You can accept the hardships, but still make sure you always look for something that will make you smile.
Inspiration
My eldest daughter has been having some trouble with girls at school. She and a friend have been fighting over the attention of another girl. It breaks my heart to listen as she cries about the things that are being said and I struggle with the fact that she is having these problems so soon. She’s only in 2nd grade and I know it’s only going to get worse. All I can do is keep reminding her to be the best friend she can be to both girls. She has so much spunk and so much sass…so much to smile about that I hope these interactions won’t dull her sparkle.
Here’s a look at the layout I did using this quote. I used the kit, Got Glasses.
