Happy Thursday, Trixie Fans! Today I’m here to bring you a little challenge. A little something we like to call a Scraplift Challenge.
I’m going to let you in on a little secret of mine. I have zero design talent. ZERO! My house is a mashup of things that I think are cute and most of the time things don’t go together well. Most of the walls in my house are white because I’m afraid of color. When we redid the floor in our kitchen recently, I decided it was time to get some color on the walls too. We picked a color, my friend offered to paint. She was laughing hysterically as the paint is a slightly different color. In fact, in the middle of the day it was hard to tell what was painted and what wasn’t. Thankfully during the evening hours and indoor lighting you can see the slight change.
What does that have to do with anything? The same can be said for my scrapping. It is a very rare occurance that I actually create a layout on my own. I’m a huge fan of templates and I’m an expert thief at scraplifting. True story. So, I’m super excited to share the challenge with you today.
My Scraplift Inspiration
The inspiration for today’s challenge comes from my fellow CT member, Carrin. I pretty much love anything Carrin does and whilst perusing the gallery for inspiration, I came across this beauty:
I loved the simple beauty of this layout and that Carrin made her photo black and white. I loved the way she used a quote and broke it up just enough to serve as both a title and journaling. I also loved the way she layered her paper.
Using the kit, Bring On The Rain (retired kit), this is what I created following Carrin’s vision:
Your Turn
Now, it’s your turn to take the scraplift challenge. What can you create using Carrin’s layout as a guide? Remember, her layout is just a starting point. You can flip it, flop it, take a few pieces from this and that and make it all your own. Just make sure you share it with us when you are done. You can put in the comments below or link it up, just let us see your work.
And now I’m off to look for some sunshine!
