Back in the beginning of October, my husband went out to the local hardware store to pick up some light bulbs. He sent me a text while he was there with a photo of an inflatable Santa on his sleigh next to the Grim Reaper. I started to see it more and more as I shopped over the next few weeks. Orange and black mixed with red and green. Maybe an occasional turkey thrown in for good measure. Don’t get me wrong – I love the holiday season, but I do think each one needs to have a little bit of time to shine. My fall decorations stay out for both Halloween and Thanksgiving and I never decorate for Christmas before Thanksgiving (I wait until the day after!). That being said, I think it is perfectly okay to start preparing for each holiday ahead of time. I think November 15th is a wonderful time to start thinking about Christmas, don’t you? The weather is getting a little colder and excitement is building. This is why I chose to focus on one of Trixie Scraps’ beautiful holiday kits for today’s Saturday with the Stars compilation.
I am a very traditional holiday decorator, so I selected the Presents Everywhere collection as our feature this week. I love the color palette of red, white and green. I also love all the extras that Trixie designed to go with this kit, from Washi Tape pack to the gorgeous patterns in the Bonus Paper pack. Each piece, including the kit and six coordinating packs, are available for purchase separately. That’s more than enough to create pages of your “Merry Memories” (more on that in the coming weeks!).
Scrap Star Inspiration
Lets take a look at some of the fun holiday pages the Scrap Stars created with this collection. First up is this stunner by Stacy. She combined the kit, bonus papers and cardstsock (along with the Star Struck vol 15: Stacey A 2 templates). I adore the repeated clusters in the corners of the page and all the different patterns and textures of the layered background pieces.
Next is a page by Stacey. The placement of the different shaped photos add a lot of interest to the page and the journaling is super fun. I love how that big curly ribbon pops out of the cluster, too!
Jennifer created this page using the kit, cardstock and glitters. I love that she chose to use the glitter papers for the arrows, which just carry the eye right around the page. Her photo selection is spot on, too…you can see that her family really enjoyed the parade!
And last, but not least, is a page that I did with my two little elves. This page ranks up there in my top layouts that I have created using Trixie Scraps’ designs. I love the Washi tape and the gorgeous patterns. I think I used almost all of the collection on this one layout!
I hope these layouts have put you in the holiday spirit. Make sure to upload any pages you create with the Presents Everywhere collection to the Trixie Scraps Gallery. I can’t wait to see what you come up with!
