Greetings!
Hello, scrapping friends! It’s been quite a while since I’ve posted. Life has been busy and slightly hectic in our home these past few months. With school starting again, that brings some normalcy back…but also brings an entirely different kind of busy to our lives. But I really can’t complain. So much of what we are doing is bringing us personal growth (or shrinkage, as the case may be), and I am happy to see my family breaking out of our comfort zone.
New Experiences
Many of the things that we did this summer were new to us. The biggest, most profound thing involved my daughter finding her courage. She attended her first funeral; she chose to stay for hours with her grandma at the funeral home during visitation. She was calm, and dealt with everything beautifully. She braved the heights of the big wooden roller coaster at a local amusement park. She went into the deeper end of a wave pool at the water park. And she wanted to do more on her own, without mom being right there alongside her. She is definitely becoming her own unique, independent person.
When reflecting upon all of the new things my daughter experienced this summer, I went looking for a quote to sum up my feelings. And I ran across this gem of wisdom from Christopher McCandless.
The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun.
Layout
My layout is created with Nature Boy by North Meets South Studios, which is available here. I used the quote in place of a title.
And here is a look at the full kit.
If you are inspired to use the Christpher McCandless quote on a layout, we’d love to see it. Happy scrapping, everyone!
