Welcome to another fabulous Saturday, Trixie fans. I know sometimes weekends can get a bit crazy, so this week’s Saturday With The Stars is a recap of all the wonderful kits featured this month.
We started off the month with a new collection that was released at Ginger Scraps as part of May’s Buffet. It is called Spring Fling.
I absolutely love this kit and the color palette of it. It really screams Spring! I’m also loving all the flower elements that come in this kit. And if you are a paper lover, you’re sure to love the papers included in this kit.
Here’s just a couple ways our Stars put Spring Fling to work for them.
I am in love with Lori’s clustering on this page. I think her photograph is fantastic and I love her title work. I also like the worn paper she used.
Next is Jan’s layout. I love that she used a spring themed kit with photos that have snow in them. I like that she only used embossed cardstock on this layout and the way the colors all came together – it’s very pleasing to the eye.
The next kit our Stars got the chance to play with wasn’t actually a kit, but May’s Templatetopia. If you haven’t had the chance to play with Trixie’s template packs before, you don’t know what you’re missing out on. Templates make digi scrapping so much quicker and they’re fun too. I am loving all the photo options that are included in May’s Templatetopia.
Here’s a look at a couple ways our Stars played with the templates.
If you’re into 2 page layouts, take a look at what Stacey did with one of the templates included in this pack. I absolutely love her paper choices and the glittered alpha. I also think it was a great idea for Stacey to put the ‘before’ photos on one side and the ‘after’ photos on the other.
Even if you’re not a fan of 2 page layouts, the template pack can still be useful for you. Helen’s page proves just that. I love the way she used the ribbons on this layout as well as her use of other elements.
Finally, last week we showed you It’s His Birthday. This kit came a month after It’s Her Birthday, but it’s a welcome addition to any collection. I am always excited when there are more masculine kits that come around. It’s His Birthday is no exception. I love that the color palette is mainly brown, blue and green. I love that this kit matches its sister kit, but has a life of it’s own as well. There are so many fun elements in this kit and you’ll want to take pictures at birthday parties, just to use this kit.
A couple examples:
I love how many photos Stacy included on her layout, yet she had plenty of space for tons of elements as well. I also like that she used one of the papers to make the #4. What a great way to incorporate another patterned paper.
Kassie’s layout is wonderful. I love how she mixed in journaling cards with her pictures. If you’ve ever wondered how to use journaling cards, this is a great example. I love that her photos all have rounded corners to match the journaling cards as well. She also kept her layout from becoming too busy by using only one patterned paper.
So there you have it folks, a quick recap of May’s releases. If you want to see even more examples of these kits in use, go back and check out the Saturday With The Stars posts made this month – or you can just visit the gallery. And while you’re visiting the gallery, share your own work with us.
