Creative Team member Shauna is another of our Texas natives – she was born in Denton, TX, and grew up in Lewisville, TX, about 15 miles away. A true homebody by nature, she has returned to Denton and has lived in the same 20 mile radius all of her life. Shauna loves spending her Sunday afternoons with family because they always have such a good time together. With the kids in her family all grown up now, her family doesn’t get as many of those times as she would like. Though she counts her home, her car, coffee, and “salted caramel anything” among the material things she’d hate to give up, she knows she would be okay if God chose to take all of them away. But, if she lost her family or her faith in God, she’s not sure she could or would survive.
Shauna volunteered heavily at her church until making a job change that didn’t allow her the same flexibility. She hopes to return to her volunteer work at some point in the future. She says the charity she most believes in is the Make A Wish Foundation because she has seen how much joy they have brought to families dealing with dire circumstances.
Outside of scrapbooking, Shauna is an avid quilter. Quilting gives her a lot of the same joy as scrapbooking and allows her to be creative, even though she considers herself more of a left brain person. (Those of us lucky enough to be Facebook friends with Shauna regularly get to see her quilt work… just gorgeous!) Shauna also loves photography, reading, and napping.
Shauna’s list of favorite things is fun and it made me smile – it includes Mexican food at any time and any place. She’s a fan of older movies and says you can give her a Doris Day/Rock Hudson movie any day of the week because “they don’t make movies like they used to” anymore and she’s a sucker for a light hearted, happy-ending movie. She has eclectic music tastes from old rock to country (new and old), some pop, christian, a little swing, and some Broadway. She also loves to read, and like her movies, prefers the lighter reading. Shauna has the TV going most nights and is a big fan of The Big Bang Theory, NCIS, Castle, Bones and Duck Dynasty. She’s not a super fan of any sports team, but will watch the Dallas Cowboys if she happens to be around at game time.
Shauna’s love of scrapbooking was borne out of her love of taking photographs of her niece, nephews, dogs, and anything else that caught her eye. While she started with paper scrapping, it took up too much space and she hated taking it out and putting it away. When she discovered digital scrapping in early 2009, she was hooked. Shauna loves to cluster — a kit with lots of flowers and greenery is heaven! Her favorite layouts are single photo layouts, and while most people want to put as many photos on a page as possible, Shauna is happiest when one photo is showcased. With digital scrapbooking, Shauna loves that she can use a kit over and over again and she loves that it is easy to post her pages on Facebook for family and friends to see. She has tons of paper scrapbook things and they currently lay idle, because it is so much easier and faster to scrap digitally!
Shauna wants to be remembered for the love she gave to others and for the laughter she created… and trust me, her wit and wry sense of humor cracks us up all the time! Here are Shauna’s favorite layouts she has created while a member of my Creative Team:
